I recently brought in a family heirloom wedding ring set to have inspected and
cleaned before proposing to my now-fiance. What attracted me here was the choice
the jewelry pieces displayed in the window, which I thought were tasteful and
unique. I had not made an appointment, but was quickly greeted by the owner
Cliff and received his full attention. He brought me into a sitting area in the
back of the shop where he looked at the rings under a microscope. Cliff was very
friendly, with plenty of complimentary things to say.
He then offered to clean the rings and have them back in my hands within the
next two hours. He also refused to accept payment for the cleaning, simply
saying he provides free cleanings. Two hours later I was back in the store and
picked up the spectacularly cleaned rings as promised.
My fiance came back to Limon's a few weeks later to have the engagement ring
resized, and Cliff was able to resize the ring and have it back on her hand in
half an hour. The resizing was reasonable, about $50.
All in all, I was greatly impressed by the owner's lack of pretense and the high
level of service provided for a young twenty-something wanting a simple ring
cleaning. It was a very positive experience that only added to our joyful
engagement.
Found in the book Purple Cow - about businesses that stand out:
A tiny but powerful example: I work in the suburbs of DC, in Bethesda, MD. Everywhere, there are parking meters and everywhere, there are very enthusiastic city employed staff writing tickets. So when you park, you'd better find change. The only problem is, if you don't have change, you're out of luck. Many businesses refuse to give change, and some have gone so far as to post signs attesting the the fact. Then there is Limon's Gems and Jewels. They have a sign that says "We will gladly make change for the parking meters." What a pleasant shock. I love this for attracting goodwill - and browsers and sales.

Hi! Thank you Cliff and Harry for making my 10-year anniversary diamond wedding band the picture perfect match to my engagement ring. It is even more beautiful than I even imagined during our designing session. Neil surprised me with it last night at dinner and it was like getting engaged all over again. I can't wait for family and friends to see it. 10 years flew by so fast.... Thank you so much for your professionalism, creativity and devotion to a girls best friend.... DIAMONDS and JEWELRY. I will have Neil take a picture of it today for your photo section so that all your fans can see the beautiful results. Thank you so much for making this a special weekend!!!!!

Dear Cliff:
The repair of the necklace is perfect. I told you that we had not been going out, but friends invited us to a function on Saturday night and I wore the necklace and earrings. Thank you for all the care and attention. We will be coming to the store when things begin to turn around. It is always good talking with you. S

Limon's Gems & Jewels brings back something you don't get these days...outstanding customer service above and beyond. I contacted Limon's three months after I dislocated my ring finger. After my injury, my knuckle was nearly twice the size as it was pre-accident. Cliff Limon was phenomenal, he spent a lot of time going through the various options and come to a solution that turned out to be the least expensive approach. I worked with Cliff and felt as though I had known him for years. He is experienced and went out of his way to make me feel confident. I would highly recommend Limon's to anyone, whether or not you have any medical issues.

Mr. Cliff,
I just wanted to thank you again for a magnificent ring! Below is
the condensed story.
We had arrived late to my families summer house at 8:00pm on a
recent Friday night. I was anxious and steadily become nervous. I had planned to
be there by 7pm but we were delayed in south bound traffic, so needless to say I
was worried I would run out of time that evening because my parents were
scheduled to come down Saturday morning!
I wanted it to be special so I had started dinner and was prepping
a fire, Craley was wondering why I was working so hard and told me she would be
happy to go get hamburgers at the dairy freeze. Obviously I was adamantly
against that!!! Once I had everything moving in the direction I wanted I was on
a new mission: to find the best lighting available in the house! After a few
minutes of walking around turning on and off lights and telling Craley that I
needed to make sure there we no "broken" light bulbs, I had found my spot! When
confronted about how bright it was I told her my eyes were fuzzy and I needed
the light to read my book (which apparently was upside down).
So I had dinner going, a roaring fire, and the "spot". But I had a
major issue, when we arrived earlier I had put the ring and a box of chocolates
in an drawer, which now Craley was sitting next to!! I started to think and
quickly came up with a solution; I would ask Craley to change the song on the
ipod and would quickly move into action!
Ok, my palms are sweaty, this is possibly the largest moment in my
personal life and the end of my bachelor days, all culminating to head.
Anxiously yet nervous I get my bravado up: "honey would you please change this
song" she responds "sure". As she gets up I know I only have 20 seconds, I rush
over to the drawer, pull out the box, put the ring and it's case in my pocket.
She walks back in to me standing up, beading sweat, as she sits down
I drop to one knee, open up the ring case and as I look up she starts to cry,
her jaw drops and she just nods her head. About 1 minute later she says yes!!
I quickly grab the box of chocolates and the bottle the champagne, as
I take the safety wire off the champagne the cork pops and I barely avoid a
bloody nose as it whizzed by and hit the ceiling.
Then the phone calls started and we have been on cloud nine ever
since!
Thank you so much!

Hi Cliff,
I just wanted to take a minute today to send you a quick note and thank you for
spending your time with me (and most importantly, with Adrienne) yesterday. It
really opened both of us up to what a diamond is, and should be. Not to mention
the creation of the ring, and the setting of the stone into it.
Thank you for opening your store (and even your workshop) to us, and showing us
EVERYTHING about a diamond, rings, design, creation, and just the whole process
from beginning to end. I think that knowing exactly HOW this process works from
beginning to end will go along way toward our deeper appreciation of the ring
she will have. It will just mean so much more to us now.
Your knowledge, experience, insight, and guidance will be especially invaluable
to me throughout this process! I'm so glad that Billye and Kristin recommended
you to us. I can't imagine buying a diamond from, or designing a ring with
anyone else.
Looking forward to talking to you tomorrow!
Many thanks,
Matt J.

Cliff,
Good morning.
As you may recall, I purchased an engagement ring from you in February 2006. My (now) wife and I were then engaged in July and married November 10, 2007. I am writing to say thank you for your sincere help and assistance in finding the perfect diamond. The complements concerning the diamond continue, and many people are in awe of the custom made setting and how it highlights the stone.
Additionally, at our reception, I received a request for information about your store and hours. I didn’t hesitate to recommend that my friend, Russ, contact you directly.
Thank you very much!
Have a Happy Holiday Season and may the New Year bring much success!
Sincerely,
Gregory

Cliff-
Thank you very much for all of your help (as well as from your brother) with the
pearl necklace. My wife loves everything about it: the pearl, the setting, the
length of the chain, etc. She has yet to take it off since I gave it to her.
I really appreciate how you were willing to work with me to help me purchase the
best piece of jewelry that fit my budget. You and your brother removed all of
the awkwardness from the buying process. It was very easy for me to talk you
about what I wanted and what I could pay and have you direct me in a the best
direction. Thanks again.
The twins are now home. They were discharged from the hospital on Sunday. We
are very tired, but even more excited to finally have them home with us.
Thanks again for all of your help. I plan on returning for the matching
earrings.

Dear Robbie and Cliff,
We wanted to write and thank you for the beautiful ring we purchased as a gift for our daughter's college graduation. It marked a special time in her life and she will always have this ring as a memento of that day. She absolutely loves it and I'm sure will cherish it for the rest of her life. In some small way she now has the beginnings of an heirloom that someday she will pass down to her child.
We especially wanted to thank you for the attention you gave to this particular purchase. Your care in working with us to select just the right style and engraving was wonderful. Although we're quite sure this was not your most expensive sale, you treated our sentimental purchase as though you were dealing with a million dollar ring, that type of care is priceless and very much appreciated. Thank you again for making the day all the more special.
Sincerely,
K & D

Dear Cliff:
A very Happy New Year to you and your staff.
Just a quick note to tell you that your “surprise plan” for presenting my wife Frances with her exquisitely beautiful birthday diamond was nothing short of brilliant (no pun intended). When the waiter at La Miche arrived literally with her “diamond on a silver platter” disguised as an hors d'oeuvre, she was totally flabbergasted, and we have the pictures to prove it as you have seen. Needless to say she and I were both thrilled at the success of your little “conspiracy”. The ring, the photos and, indeed, the entire evening was truly priceless! I simply cannot thank you enough for your incredible thoughtfulness in allowing us to experience one of the finest birthdays ever.
It was truly my good fortune in running across you and your wonderful store. The high level of professional treatment you gave me, a novice in the world of diamonds and gems, was unmatched by anything I have ever experienced. Keep up the exceptional workmanship you display and when next I am in the market for another beautiful gift, Limon’s will be at the top of my list.
Wishing you a most happy and prosperous New year , we remain…
Sincerely yours,
Ed and Frances
Bethesda.

A referral from a customer to a friend:
Dear Laurie,
Per your message, I just E-mailed a "Thank you," to P. S. I hope
that it's helpful.
Also, it seems to be an ever smaller world. I called my jeweler yesterday
to thank him for steering my husband in the right direction for my birthday gift
(small gold frog with pave' of many Tsavorites). He said he'd just met
someone I know. He told me you might be contacting me about them.
All I can tell you is this:
Limon's is the ONLY jeweler I trust. I was introduced to them through my
aunt and uncle and cousin. I have been a gem freak for years (a leaning
heavily influenced by my mother's love of gems). Cliff, the current owner
of Limon's, is the great grandson of the original Limon's jeweler. I came
to know his grandfather quiet well over many years. I have several
pieces made by them. Pop, Cliff's grandfather, was a wonderful old
curmudgeon who taught me most of what I have learned about gems that didn't come
through some form of osmosis. He was a FABULOUS jeweler. I'd be
happy to show you examples of the incredible work they have done for me.
Pop died a few years ago and Cliff continues the business. Their main
"bench jeweler," Harry, has been at this craft for decades.
He'll probably retire before way too long.
Over the years I have had occasions to deal with other jewelers and I can tell
you without reservation, Limon's is the absolute best. Not only is their
craftsmanship the best, they are about the last ethical jeweler I've ever
encountered. As a matter of fact, when we returned from Turkey and
Colombia (my husband is with the State Department) I went to work outside of my
normal field (benefits) because we had a mortgage and it was an incredibly tight
job market. I had to think about what else might provide employment for
me. I worked for both Black, Starr and Frost (an historically high-end
jeweler, no longer so because it now belongs to Sterling, owner of Kay's and
Shaw's) and Nordstrom's fine jewelry department. While working at those
places, I still only dealt with Limon's with the exception of the purchase of a
couple of small items purchased due to my employee discount. Those items
were factory made pieces.
To summarize, Limon's is not only the best place to have something made but it
is also the most ethical, by far, in my book. As I said earlier in this
note, I would be perfectly happy for you to look at anything I have from them.
Unfortunately, most jewelers, in my experience, are staffed by people who
couldn't tell a Tsavorite from a Tanzanite. I know; I've had them try to
BS me.
I hope this is of some help to you. Please give me a call should you
have any questions at all. I can't say enough good things. You MAY
have to wait longer for your work to be completed with them, but it will be well
worth the wait.
All the best,
S
PS I get nothing from Limon's for telling you these facts. I just
really believe in them. It's nice to have something positive to say about
a merchant in this day and age. s

Hi Cliff,
Becky and I are anxiously awaiting the wedding date in two weeks. I can't
tell you how many comments we get on the ring and not just the standard
comments but from people who normally wouldn't notice a diamond ring if it
was kicking them in the kneecap. I really do want to thank you and I've
been telling a few of my friends who may be looking to buy a ring soon
about your store.

Cliff, I want to thank you (and Robbie) for the excellent service
and assistance in my recent purchase of a diamond engagement ring and
wedding bands. It has been a real pleasure to do business with Limon's.
The personal service, quality workmanship and expertise all combined to make
"shopping" a positive and memorable experience. Susan and I both look forward
to visiting again soon -- and wish you and your staff the happiest of
holiday seasons.
